  • The small hamlet "the Mont" is situated in the uplands of Abondance. It is composed of traditionnal farms around a chapel. The architecture and the place are typical of the local habitat of the Vallée d'Abondance

  • Departing from the center of Abondance village, the hike takes you to the hamlet of Le Mont, where you'll discover traditional Abondance houses and the Chapelle Saint Didier. This hamlet on the heights of the village offers views of the Abondance valley, Mont de Grange and Mont Chauffé.

    You'll pass a farm selling the famous Abondance cheese.

    You then join a forest track. From here, you'll descend to the heights of Richebourg and then climb back up to the mountain pastures of the hamlet...

    0/ Departure : Abondance village center.
    1/ Follow signs for "Place de l'église - Abbaye d'Abondance".
    2/ Continue along the asphalt road towards "Le Mont".
    3/ At Combafou, turn left onto a path towards "Les Rappes" and "Le Mont".
    4/ Continue towards "Le Mont" hamlet.
    5/ At Le Mont, continue along the road towards Le Sauvage, where you will come to a carriage road.
    6/ After the Sauvage parking lot, continue towards "La Raille". At the sign for "Les Côtes", turn right and take the forest path down into the forest. At La Ferrière, take the track and follow the road to the old goat farm. From here, take the path back to the hamlet of Le Mont.
    7/ Return by the same route as the outward journey.
