Discovering a small lake in a green setting

Situated in the commune of Vacheresse at an altitude of 1335 meters, Lac de Fontaine is a small marshy lake, often frequented by fishermen.

Accessible to all, it can be easily circumnavigated on foot or by bike, and is around 1 ha in size.

Easily accessible by car from Vacheresse, it can be reached via the road leading to the Chalets de Bise.

Fishing in the mountains is possible

The Lac de Fontaine is often visited by anglers, who fish for Fario trout or minnow.

The Fario trout can be distinguished by the small spots on its back and its colorful fins. They belong to the same family as salmon and live in freshwater rivers and shallow lakes where oxygen is present.

The minnow is a small fish that is very present in freshwater. It is very lively and often moves in schools. Very easy to catch, it is often eaten fried.
